December 23, 2024The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the following leadership positions for St. John’s Cathedral:
Vestry Members – 5 plus 2 alternates (1st and 2nd)
- Vestry members will be elected for a 3-year term.
- If any Vestry member resigns, the alternate will serve for the remainder of their term.
Convention Delegates – 4 plus 4 alternates
- 2 of the delegates and 2 of the alternates will be elected for a 1-year term
- 2 of the delegates and 2 of the alternates will be elected for a 2-year term
The Vestry has assessed our strengths and needs to identify the necessary attributes for our next Vestry class and delegates, which are:
- Clear understanding of the mission of St. John’s.
- Willingness to serve others over self.
- Strategic/Big picture (thinker).
- Analytical skills to understand the needs of the parish.
- Ability to represent the Cathedral with an understanding of the role that our parish plays within the diocese.
- Challenge the status quo.
- Bring fresh and new ideas for our clergy and congregation.
- Possess a spirit of positive energy.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change.
- Ability to have difficult and candid conversations.
Qualifications for Vestry are:
- A communicant of St. John’s Cathedral in good standing for a period of at least 12 months prior to election.
- Actively involved in the ministries of the Parish.
- Must be willing to accept active leadership, including responsibility for decision-making that represents the entire Parish.
- Must, if called upon, serve on the boards of affiliated corporations of the Cathedral.
- Must be willing to invest the time necessary in the ministry of leadership, including worship attendance, Vestry meetings, and other scheduled Vestry activities, special events, and satellite activities.
Qualifications for Convention Delegates are:
- A communicant of St. John’s Cathedral in good standing for a period of at least 12 months prior to election.
- Actively involved in the ministries of the Parish.
- Commit to prepare for and attend Diocesan Conventions. The next convention is scheduled for September 19-20, 2025.
Nominations are due on Friday, December 20. Any parish member can nominate
themselves or another member they believe to be qualified by sending information on why they believe they are qualified to serve. Please send nominations to either
