This week, Bob Dannals and I, along with four members of the Vestry, will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to attend a conference hosted by the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP). The featured speaker is Rev. Adam Hamilton, the well-known pastor of a Methodist church plant which has grown to thousands of members. We will be attending workshops on everything from property issues to raising an endowment to starting a newcomers ministry. It will be a rich time in which clergy and laity from some of the most active and vibrant churches will be able to mingle and learn from one another.
Last week, the Executive Director of CEEP visited Jacksonville and had lunch with Senior Warden John Sefton and myself. The board of CEEP is now considering hosting one of their conferences in Jacksonville, perhaps in 2023. I have been appointed to the board, so I hope I can influence them to consider us as a future location! This would bring experts from all over the church to this city to see what we are doing at the Cathedral and the work that we have begun in the Cathedral District.
Please pray that we will travel safely and come home with new ideas and enthusiasm about the future of not only this church but for all those who seek to follow Jesus.
In Christ’s love,
Kate+
