Kindness Rocks!
On Sunday, November 21, St. John's Cathedral invites you to pick up a Kindness Rock. A group of volunteers painted these rocks. Each one has an inspiring message. Take one home as our thanksgiving offering to you! You're also invited to take some unpainted rocks home with you so you can create your own Kindness Rock as a gift for someone.
Kindness
… the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate
Kindness is expressed in many ways; saying “thank you”, holding someone’s hand, reaching out, and a thousand other ways. St. John’s Cathedral has joined the grassroots movement of spreading kindness through painted rocks. We are following the lead of Megan Murphy’s Kindness Rocks Project https://www.thekindnessrocksproject.com which started in 2015 on the beach at Cape Cod. One morning, she wrote "You've got this" on a rock and left it on a beach. A friend found it and told Megan how it had inspired her. From there, Megan started leaving more rocks with inspirational messages on the beach and a movement was born.
The mission of the Kindness Rocks Project is simple:
ONE MESSAGE AT JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT
CAN CHANGE SOMEONE'S ENTIRE DAY, OUTLOOK, LIFE
If you love this project and want to do more, please reach out to Laura Eldredge, [email protected] for a conversation about how we are using rocks to connect with each other. Kindness is a lovely thing to share.
